Our Services

Our complete care package

Lady who has achieved significant weight-lossSurgery is just the first-step in achieving long-term weight-loss, which is why our comprehensive weight-loss service combines surgery with care and support from a multi-disciplinary team of experts to help you make lifelong changes.

Dietary support

To make sure that any treatment is tailored to your needs and expectations, we work with you to get a clear picture of your eating habits, dieting history, current weight and medical history.  At your initial consultation you will get dietary advice and support from one of our registered dieticians as well as the bariatric surgeon who would actually carry out the procedure.

The week before surgery you will need to follow a low fat, sugar and carbohydrate diet, as advised by your dietician.

After surgery you may eat most foods and still enjoy eating out with friends or family.  But, whilst the procedure will help weight-loss unless you change the way you eat, by developing healthy eating habits and eating small portions, its effects may be greatly reduced.  As such you will need to eat a normal balanced diet in future and because you can only eat a little it is important to include foods full of vitamins and nutrients.  After surgery our dietician will help you develop a long-term healthy eating plan and support you in maintaining your weight-loss.

Your hospital stay

We recognise that coming into hospital, can be a daunting experience but we are committed to making sure your stay at Holly House is as easy, relaxed and comfortable as possible.  All our inpatient rooms are private ensuite rooms, with friends and family able to visit you whenever you wish.  You can expect to stay overnight for a gastric band, or at least three nights for gastric bypass surgery.  Your consultant will visit you during this time and you will be looked after by a specialist bariatric nurse.

Aftercare

We believe looking after you following your surgery is an important part in helping you maintain your weight-loss and health.  Follow-up appointments are an part of this, as is a named telephone contact (either the surgeon or a bariatric nurse) in case you have any questions or worries after your operation that cannot wait until your next appointment.

Typically, for all weight-loss surgery you will have the following post-operative follow-up appointments:

  • Three follow-up appointments with your consultant
  • One follow-up appointment with your dietetician
  • Access to our specialist nurse when needed.

These follow-up consultations are included in the price of your surgery.
