Breast clinic
Holly House is a BUPA approved Breast Cancer Hospital. Our one-stop breast clinic has been developed to provide a rapid diagnosis and ease the anxiety of any breast concerns such as the discovery of a lump.
The breast clinic is led by a consultant breast care specialist supported by other specialist healthcare professionals including a mammographer and Breast Care Nurse to provide a one-stop service for majority of patients.
What will happen at my appointment?
At your appointment, you will be assessed by a consultant breast care specialist which will include a physical examination. If necessary, the consultant may then refer you for:
- a mammogram (an x-ray of the breast)
- an ultrasound scan of the breast
- an analysis of tissue sample taken following a biopsy
- a discussion with our specialist breast care nurse, if necessary.
You will then see the consultant for a second time. Whenever possible, the results will be available within the same appointment to enable a speedy diagnosis and reduce the anxiety of waiting for results. The consultant will explain the results to you and, if necessary, discuss the options and recommend any further course of treatment needed.
It is important to remember that more often that not the result will be normal and you will leave the clinic with complete peace of mind. If however an abnormality is detected you will receive the immediate support of a breast care nurse counsellor and early access to treatment.
Please note these are regular clinics, other times may be available by appointment.
