Patient Information

NHS patients

As part of the NHS Patient Choice scheme, you may now be able to have your NHS treatment at Holly House Hospital.

What is Patient Choice?

Patient Choice is a government initiative introduced to give NHS patients more choice about where and when they are treated.  It means that NHS patients in England who require hospital treatment will be offered a choice of hospitals or clinics for their treatment (including participating private hospitals) by their GP and one of the options could be Holly House Hospital.  Further information on Patient Choice can be found on the NHS website.

Can I choose Holly House for my NHS treatment?

Yes.  However, not all of the services and treatments offered at Holly House Hospital are available as part of the Patient Choice scheme, only select specialities.  Also the number of appointments allocated to the scheme is limited, so we may not always have availability.  To find out if you can have your NHS treatment at Holly House, simply ask to your GP.

Please note that unlike private patients at Holly House, you may not have a private bedroom but be cared for in a day unit as you would in the NHS.  All our patients receive the same standards of care and treatment led by a consultant, but unlike private patients under the Patient Choice scheme you will be unable to choose your individual consultant.

Booking an appointment

Once you have chosen Holly House for your treatment from the choice of hospitals offered by your GP, it is likely that your GP or other practice staff will book your appointment for you whilst you are in the surgery.  Alternatively, if you wish to book your own appointment, please contact us on 020 8936 1270.

Once your appointment has been booked, you will receive a letter from Holly House confirming the details of your appointment and any instructions you may need to follow in preparation of your appointment.  A copy will also be sent to your GP.

Paying for my treatment

Every aspect of your treatment will be covered by the NHS.  You will however, need to pay for personal items such as newspapers, meals for your visitors or telephone calls at the end of your stay in hospital, just like you would in an NHS hospital.
