Holly House helps raise funds for Haven House Children’s Hospice
Holly House was proud to sponsor Haven House’s recent GloWalk to raise money for the children’s hospice.
Over 300 local people including staff from Holly House completed the 10km sponsored walk which took place in the dark on the evening of Friday 30 September. Starting and finishing at the hospice in Woodford Green, the walkers, many dressed in head-to-toe neon and waving glowsticks, passed through the streets of South Woodford and Wanstead. Last year, the GloWalk raised around £20,000 for the hospice and organisers are hoping to beat that total this time around.
Haven House provides care for local children, aged 0-19 years with life-limiting illnesses and who are unlikely to reach adulthood and also provides much needed support for their families. They provide a happy ‘home from home’ environment so that these children can live life to the full. A wide range of services is available which includes day, short break and end of life care so that families can find the support they need, when they need it most at no financial cost to themselves.
Jackie Row, Hospital Director, said: “Haven House provides an important service in our local community caring for children and their families. The Hospice is dependent on the support of our local community and we were delighted that to be able to help them raise valuable funds.”
