PILS resuscitation training
Date: Friday 23 September 2011 Time: 9am - 5pm approx.
Location: Holly house Hospital, High Road, Buckhurst Hill, Essex IG9 5HX
This one-day course aims to provide healthcare staff with the requisite knowledge and skills needed to:
- recognise the seriously ill child and initiate appropriate interventions to prevent cardio-respiratory arrest.
- treat the child in respiratory or cardio-respiratory arrest for the short time before the arrival of a resuscitation team or more experienced assistance.
- become members of the resuscitation team.
The PILS consists of various lectures and skill stations teaching the following:
- BLS and FBAO
- Airway management and ventilation
- BLS with adjuncts
- Emergency circulatory access, fluid administration and medications
- ALS algorithm and management of cardio-respiratory arrest
- Scenario practice
- Optional targeted training
The course is appropriate for doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and radiographers who require these skills for the clinical areas they work in.
