If you are considering weight loss surgery, it is important that you are confident in the qualifications and skill of the consultant who would be carrying out your operation, as well as the nursing staff who will look after you during your recovery.

Weight loss surgery at Holly House is carried out by Mr Kesava Reddy Mannur, an experienced upper gastrointestinal surgeon.   Mr Mannur has extensive experience in advanced laparoscopic and obesity surgery performing, on average, four surgeries a week with an extremely low complication rate.  

Training and background
Mr Mannur trained at the University Hospital of Wales, Lister Hospital in Stevenage, The Royal London Hospital and Middlesex Hospital.   He was a Consultant Surgeon at The Royal London Hospital between 1998 and 2000 , from 2000 to 2002 at Scarborough General Hospital and has also set up a department of surgery at Mediciti Hospital, Hyderabad, India. 

He is currently a Consultant Surgeon within the NHS at Homerton University Hospital.  Mr Mannur regularly performs laparoscopic obesity surgery including gastric banding, gastric RNY bypass, sleeve gastrectomy, duodenal switch and revisional obesity surgery both in the NHS and at Holly House Hospital.

Laparoscopic (keyhole surgery) work
Mr Mannur began laparoscopic work in 1990 and attended the laparoscopic course in Dundee in 1990.  He was closely associated with advanced laparoscopic work at The Royal London Hospital from 1991 to 1993, and has attended various laparoscopic courses and conferences since then. 

Mr Mannur has presented a number of workshops and conferences in laparoscopic surgery in India from 1994 onwards.  He also demonstrated a live procedure - Laparoscopic Fundoplication for heartburn/hiatus hernia - to the Royal College of Surgeons from The Royal London Hospital operating theatre in 1998 and 1999.  As a result of his extensive knowledge of laparoscopic procedures, he has trained a number of surgeons in Laparoscopic Surgery.

Obesity work

• Attended the first laparoscopic gastric banding course in London in 1998.
• Performed his first laparoscopic gastric banding in 1998.
• Demonstrated laparoscopic gastric banding in Madras, India, in 2004 and has been teaching laparoscopic obesity surgery in India since then.
• Attended numerous laparoscopic obesity centres, workshops and conferences in France, Belgium, Holland and USA, including time spent with Professor Gagner and Dr Higa, leading Bariatric Surgeons in USA.
• Regularly attends international and national obesity conferences.
• Regularly performs all aspects of obesity surgery after careful evaluation in a multi-disciplinary set up.
• Trains other consultants in bariatric surgery.
