Many women feel uncomfortable about the size and appearance of their genital area, particularly after childbirth. The lips or labia may protrude and cause discomfort when tight fitting clothes are worn. They may become discoloured and enlarged after giving birth. The vaginal canal may lose tightness and gape open thus affecting sexual gratification. Weakness of the vaginal walls can also lead to incontinence problems especially during exercise. Stitches or tears at the time of childbirth can heal with scarring and cause pain or discomfort during intercourse. Cosmetic gynaecology is available to tighten, repair, reduce and restore the vagina and labia to a more pleasing appearance with improved physiological and sexual function. Vaginal tightening (or vaginoplasty) is a procedure which tones the vaginal muscles and the surrounding tissue. Labial reduction (or labiaplasty) is also available to reduce or reshape the vaginal lips. This procedure is usually carried out by a Consultant Gynaecologist, so unlike other cosmetic treatments an initial consultation fee will be charged. To book a consultation, please call us on 020 8936 1201.
