Very few of us have perfect skin and injectable fillers are a popular non-surgical treatment for smoothing out facial lines and wrinkles.

There are many 'fillers' available and in some cases a combination of fillers may be recommended to treat or improve a particular condition.  Your consultant will be best placed to advise on which type of filler is most suitable to meet your requirements.  You will also be advised as to how longlasting the treatment is, as this differs from patient to patient, and how many treatments may be needed to achieve the results you desire.

Fillers are administered by way of a simple injection treatment, for which no anaesthetic is required.  The areas best treated are:

• forehead lines - horizontal frown lines
• glabeller lines - vertical frown lines between the eyebrows
• crow's feet or laughter lines - radiating away from the eyes
• naso-labial lines - furrows running between the mouth and nose
• marionette lines - lines running down from the corners of the mouth
• lips - to create a fuller, more defined shape
• facial scars - either from old injuries or acne scarring
• cheeks - to add fullness especially following illness.

Some fillers require a skin test prior to treatment to ensure that you have no allergy to the product, but in the last few years various products have become available which avoid the necessity for an allergy test.  After treatment there are usually no visble effects and you could therefore go straight back to work or to a social engagement.
