A facelift is an operation to lift the lower part of the face and neck restoring the jawline.  It primarily addresses loose skin on the jowls which obscure the jawline below each cheek, what is sometimes described as 'turkey neck'.

A facelift involves a general anaesthetic and an overnight stay in hospital.  The stitches are hidden in the hairline and around the ear.  Quite often there is no bruising, but if there is then it appears on the cheeks and neck and can be easily disguised with a little make-up.

In the right candidate, results can be excellent.  It should not be obvious that someone has had a facelift, instead they will look younger and full of vitality.  The effect of a facelift is long-lasting.  It does not stop the ageing process but simply the patients will not look as old as they would have done had the surgery not been carried out.
