SmileOral and maxillofacial surgery is the surgical speciality concerned with the diagnosis and treatment of diseases affecting the mouth, jaws, face and neck.

The speciality is unique in requiring dual qualification in medicine and dentistry in addition to general and specialist surgical training.  The scope of the speciality is very large covering surgical management of conditions arising from teeth and their supporting structures such as impacted teeth and jaw cysts (dentoalveolar surgery), mucosal conditions affecting the mouth such as ulcers and white patches (oral medicine), facial injuries such as broken jaws and cheek bones, salivary gland surgery and surgery for orofacial cancer, facial deformity and temporomandibular joint disease.

Our service
The Oral and Maxillofacial team at Holly House is led by caring local consultants who offer both outpatient and inpatient surgical treatment.  Outpatient work is carried out in our purpose-built Oral Surgery Suite assisted by sympathetic and friendly specialist nurses.  Many treatments can be carried out under local anaesthetic causing minimal disruption.  Our services include:
