Some men and women feel that their chin looks too large or too small and is not in proportion to the rest of their face. Sometimes a person may be considering nose reshaping due to concerns about their profile when in fact it is the chin that is weak and increasing its size will balance the overall facial profile.
Chin augmentation is a procedure whereby a silicone implant is inserted to increase the size of the chin. It is usually carried out under general anaesthetic and an overnight stay in hospital may be required. It can be carried out on both men and women. If the chin protrudes too much, a chin reduction may be suggested. Dependent on the reduction required, this can range from removing some excess tissue and a slight reduction of the bone to a more complicated procedure involving more bone reduction or resetting. Your consultant will advise on the procedure most suitable for you and in some cases mayrefer you to a maxillofacial surgeon instead. A no-obligation, free consultation with a cosmetic surgeon is available by calling 020 8936 1225. |
