Large text What is obesity? Obesity is becoming excessively fat due to increased intake of calories and decreased activity including exercises. Anybody with a BMI over 30 kg/m² is considered to be obese.
Why are we concerned about obesity? Obesity has serious implications for health, causing reduced life expectancy and increased risk of diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure, arthritis and joint problems, sleep apnoea/breathing problems, low self-esteem, psychological problems and even cancer.
