Cardiology is the investigation, diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the heart and blood vessels. The cardiovascular system includes the heart, arteries, veins, arterioles, venules, and capillaries.
Our service
A number of Consultant Cardiologists hold outpatient clinics at Holly House, and we also provide a number of diagnostic cardiac tests and screening services to aid diagnosis of heart-related conditions.
Cardiology clinics:
We aim, wherever possible, to offer patients the convenience of a one-stop clinic specialising in the assessment and management specialising in the assessment and management of most cardiological conditions including:
- Heart disease
- Heart failure
- High blood pressure (Hypertension)
- Low blood pressure
- Palpitations
Heart Check:
We offer a HeartCheck screen to detect the extent and risk of developing heart disease, often long before physical symptoms appear. The short, pain free scan can detect the build-up of deposits in the coronary arteries enabling preventative action to be taken.
Diagnostic services:
Our Outpatients department is fully equipped to provide a complete range of cardiac tests including:
- Blood pressure monitoring
- Chest x-ray
- Echocardiogram (an ultrasound scan of the heart)
- ECG (to measure the electrical activity of the heart)
- Exercise tolerance testing (a recording of the heart beat speed and rhythm during exercise on a treadmill).
- Holter monitoring (provides a constant recording of your heart’s rate and rhythm over a 24hr or 7-day period).
