Training & Background
Having trained as an undergraduate in Bombay, Mrs Shah-Desai went on to complete her postgraduate training in Ophthalmology at Sir JJ Group of Hospitals, Bombay.
She undertook three subspecialty fellowship trainings in her quest to master the art of periocular plastic and reconstructive surgery.
Mrs Shah-Desai first focused on a fellowship in Cornea & Oculoplastics at The Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead (1996-1997), where she developed extensive expertise in managing periocular trauma, chemical burns and ocular surface diseases.
This was followed by a joint oculoplastic fellowship at Salisbury & Southampton Eye Units (1998) and then at the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital (2000-2001), specialising in techniques of plastic surgery as related to the eyes and their surrounding structures such as eyelid repairs (ptosis, ectropion, entropion, blepharoplasty), tear duct surgery, treatment of thyroid eye disease, facial palsy and blepharospasm, eyelid cancer and eye socket reconstruction.
Mrs Shah-Desai undertook a fellowship secondment at the multi-disciplinary craniofacial unit at Chelsea & Westminster Hospital (2009) to hone her skills in midface lift, brow lifts and other aesthetic rejuvenating procedures.
Please note these are regular clinics, other times may be available by appointment.
