Training & Background
Commenced as a Consultant Urological Surgeon at King George Hospital in November 1995. Adopted TVT colposuspension for stress incontinence in 1997 which is now accepted as the Gold Standard. Mr Bhanot has the credit of introducing extra peritoneal method of Laparoscopic Radical Prostatectomy to the UK in 2004.
He also is credited with introducing laparoscopic pyelplasty and laparoscopic partial nephrectomy to Essex in 2006. In 2008 he performed the first laparoscopic Millin’s prostatectomy. In 2009 his team of surgeons pioneered the single one centimetre port laparoscopic radical prostatectomy which is even less invasive than a standard LRP and robotic prostatectomy.
Most patients have their urinary catheters removed within a week after operation. His team of surgeons have perfected the technique of nerve sparing to preserve the potency in younger men with early prostate cancer over the last fifteen years. Mr Bhanot is an active supporter of local prostate cancer charity APPLE (Association of Prostate Patients in London and Essex) and MacMillan Cancer Support, contributing to a video on PSA test.
Mr Bhanot has a vast experience of Memokath prostatic stenting which is used in medically unfit patients. He has been honored as a visiting Professor by several Universities for his work in middle east, USA and China. Mr Bhanot is presently a UK delegate for Societe Internationale Urologie.
