He was the first surgeon to perform the keyhole repair of abdominal aortic aneurysm (Endovascular Aneurysm Repair (EVAR) ) using a stent graft at King George Hospital in 2000.  He carries out a variety of other vascular procedures such as lower limb bypass surgery, carotid endarterectomy and angioplasties in the private sector.

Mr Jacob has a special interest in varicose vein surgery and the new minimally invasive treatment options that are available. He introduced the VNUS Closure (radiofrequency ablation of varicose veins) in the private sector in Essex and as a pilot study at King George Hospital. Mr Jacob has carried out over 500 laparoscopic hernia repairs in the private sector with only two recurrences.  In addition to hernia surgery he also routinely performs laparoscopic gallbladder surgery and minimally invasive thoracoscopic sympathectomy for hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating of hands and armpits).
