Training & Background
Mr Hollingworth trained at Manchester University Medical School and undertook pre-registration posts in Manchester and Salford before spending a year teaching anatomy at the university. He then undertook basic surgical training and gained the FRCS in General Surgery from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
Mr Hollingworth then started obstetrics and gynaecology training, initially in Nottingham, before undertaking registrar posts in Auckland, New Zealand. On his return he worked in London and gained the MRCOG. He then spent some time working as a research fellow with the Imperial Cancer Research Fund (ICRF) which is now part of Cancer Research UK.
He gained a PhD looking at HPV in the normal cervix and completed his training back in Nottingham as a senior registrar. Mr Hollingworth started at Whipps Cross as a consultant in 1995. In 1999 he gained an MBA in health management from Keele University. In 2003, he became a fellow of the RCOG.
