Training & Background
Mr Goldie's orthopaedic training was at St Mary's Hospital, The Royal London Hospital and the Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston USA. He concentrates his practice on treating problems of the upper limb performing shoulder operations such as rotator cuff repair, shoulder decompression, stabilisation for recurrent dislocation and shoulder replacement.
Around the elbow, he operates on tennis and golfer's elbow, and decompression of the ulnar nerve. At the wrist Mr Goldie excises ganglions, performs percutaneous and open scaphoid fracture fixation, and carpal tunnel decompressions.
In the hand he performs trigger finger release, de Quervains decompression, and fix fractures of the hand bones. Mr Goldie has a particular interest in Dupuytren's disease (Dupuytren's contracture), and is one of the few surgeons in London regularly performing needle release in his outpatient clinics, known as Needle Aponevrotomy or NA, Needle Aponeurotomy or Percutaneous Needle Fasciotomy (PNF).
Mr Goldie is on the national faculty for the British Society for Surgery of the Hand instructional courses, and the AO Hand Fracture fixation courses. He is also an invited lecturer on the European Acumed Upper Limb Fracture Fixation course.
