A sleeve gastrectomy is a type of weight loss surgery to reduce the size of your stomach. The stomach, although smaller, works in the same way as before but as you will only be able to eat a small meal, you will lose weight, especially if you also follow a low fat, low sugar diet. Sleeve gastrectomy was originally developed as the first of a two-stage duodenal switch procedure in patients who were seriously obese and for whom the risks of a long operation were considered too high. However, the sleeve gastrectomy alone may reduce excess weight by about 30-50%, so is now being used by more and more people as a single-stage weight loss procedure. The procedure Recovery The risks
